Reentry Programs
Self Development Reentry Program
CCA is the lead agency in a community collaborative to address the transition
of young people ages 16 - 24 returning from the county correctional facility into
the community. Partner agencies include the Onondaga County Correctional Facility,
CNY Works, Concerned Citizens Action Program, Board of Cooperative Educational
Services, Greater Syracuse Works (a community employment collaborative), Prevention
Network, Partners for Education and Business, Onondaga Child Care Council.
The program supports new pre-release services, transitional planning, pre-release empowerment groups, special "day of release services" and post release services spanning a year. This coordinated system of post-release employment, education, relapse prevention, mental health services and other services as needed is supported by case management and community mentoring.
CHOICES Transitions
CCA's CHOICES Transitions program includes discharge planning and reentry services
for people incarcerated in state and county correctional facilities. For more
information click here.
Redefining Reentry
CCA views reentry as a process that should begin at arrest. By starting reentry
planning at the time of a person^s arrest, the reentry plan can be an effective
tool for both advocacy and reintegration at beginning at pre-trial release and
continuing as long as the individual is involved in the criminal justice system.
Therefore CCA's sentencing advocacy and Client
Specific Planning includes reentry planning and access to appropriate services
as an alternative to incarceration and in cases where incarceration is required
as a plan for services during incarceration and at reentry. For more information
about redefining reentry click here.
