Health Services - NYC
The clients and communities served by CCA’s Health Services in NYC have been significantly affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. New York State has more HIV infected people in prison than any other State and it leads the nation in the number of reported AIDS cases.
Men and women involved in the criminal justice system are educated about the risks involved in drug and alcohol use, untreated mental health issues and HIV/AIDS. CCA’s programs are open to anyone entering the community after a period of incarceration.
Positive Choices provides HIV related services, including:
- Individual counseling for people who are at risk of HIV infection’
- Support groups for people living with HIV
- Referrals to HIV/Aids supportive services
- Referrals to doctors for medical assistance
Co-factors provides substance abuse and mental health services, including:
- Mental health and substance abuse screenings
- Discussion groups on recovery readiness, relapse prevention, sexual risk, stress reduction and anger management
- Referrals to mental health providers and substance abuse treatment services
Testing Services include in-office testing for Hepatitis C and the 20-minute rapid testing for HIV.
Program incentives include:

- Safer sex kits
- Emergency supplies
- Other free gifts
